December News from Mrs. George!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Math Social Studies Language Arts Spelling

In this math unit, we are learning addition and subtraction with regrouping. Our test is on Friday, December 5th.

Keep practicing your addition and subtraction facts. We will begin multiplication after Christmas break, so you can get a head start by practicing these facts at home.

Check out the math links below!

This year, I will be teaching social studies to all of the third grade students!

In social studies, we are learning all about our country's government, especially the branches of government and how our government began. We will also be learning about elections in this unit.

Chapter 6 Test will be on Friday, December 12. If you want to study in advance, you can use the chapter review on pgs. 162-163. We will be reviewing a lot in class...including playing Jeopardy!

President Reports are due Wednesday, December 10.

Reading: We have new reading books this year and I am really excited about the great stories we will be reading!

Be sure to practice cursive handwriting. You will be expected to use it this year for most assignments.

Please be sure you have a children's dictionary at home.

Spelling pretests are on Mondays. If a student gets 100% on a pretest, he/she will be given a challenge list, which they will take a test for on Fridays instead of the regular spelling list.

All students will complete spelling book work regardless of whether or not he/she gets all words correct on the pretest. These activities reinforce phonics and other language arts skills.

I am the oldest of four children. I have two brothers and one sister. My husband, Dan, and I live here in Anderson. We have two dogs, Louie and Nellie, and a beautiful little baby girl named Kylie!

My Education and Experience:

I have lived in Cincinnati all of my life. I went to Saint Columban and Mount Notre Dame High School. I continued my Catholic education at Xavier University where I received a bachelors degree in early childhood education. My license allows me to teach all subjects from preschool through third grade. This is my third year at IHM and I am so excited to be here!

I believe that students learn best when they are involved in their learning. I keep students engaged in the classroom as much as possible and try to get them excited about third grade!
