1.       Personal Health Care Bags and Letters

Please begin sending in travel size personal health care products (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.).

These are the type you might get when you travel. Please ask friends, neighbors and other family member to collect these for you. Bring them in anytime – we will collect them until late spring when we will write notes and create the individual bags. The bags will be donated through the parish to appropriate organizations.

THIS IS THE THIRD GRADE’'S MAIN SERVICE PROJECT. YOU WILL RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT OTHERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. PLEASE CHECK BACK OFTEN!

RELIGION

FIVE WORDS TO LIVE BY

We had a speaker from the Mental Health Association. She helped the students understand feelings. We will also be studying Chapter 3 in the Health Book.

Lesson 1: Learning About Yourself

Lesson2: Getting Along With Others

Lesson 3: Emotions and Conflict

Lesson 4: Managing Stress

As the season of Advent begins we will be studying why this season is so important to us as Catholics.

STOP BY THE THIRD GRADE HALL TO SEE OUR SAINT REPORTS!

LANGUAGE ARTS

Our spelling words generally relate to the story or unit of concentration.  If the story is in the textbook, words will relate to that story.  If the story is not part of our reading text, the words will relate to the theme we are studying.

We have also been practicing alphabetical order and using guide words to locate words in a glossary or dictionary.

Students have been reviewing sentence structure and working to improve the sentences they write.

Phonics: Skills that we have covered are listed below. Students can practice these with games online and in their reading and writing.

Short vowels: /a/,/e/,/i/,/o/,/u/ - Syllable Patterns: VC/CV - Endings: -ed, -ing - Vowel Digraphs: ee, ea, ay, ai, oa, ow

MATH

Students are learning about our number system and place value. We continue to work to improve problem solving skills.
