![]() Welcome to a new school year full of mathematical wonders ! This year I am only working with students in grades 5-8 since I am at IHM three days each week. The math enrichment program for grades 6,7,8 will be in the form of a Math Club for those sixth graders who qualified for math enrichment and the students in 8MY and 7MY math classes. The students will meet with me during lunch and recess for the Math Club. The sixth graders will meet on Fridays, seventh graders on Monday and eighth graders on Wednesday. This will be primarily for those who want to participate in math competitions on the weekends. However, we will also be participating in the Math Counts Math Club challenges. Eligible students do not need to attend math competitions as long as they are interested in expanding their knowledge of math. The fifth graders will still come during their math class for math enrichment. |

Philosophy:
I believe that every student can be successful learning math. Students need to have positive experiences to develop concrete concepts for the abstract ideas encountered in math. Most children succeed when they have the opportunity to build on their successes.
Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing a student have an "AHAA" moment when finally understanding a concept!
Bio:
I graduated from Thomas More College with a BA in Elementary Education. I have a Master of Education working with Learning Disabled and Behavior Disorder Students from XU. In addition to my formal degrees, I have over 30 post graduate credits in teaching mathematics.
In 1999, I was honored by the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics as the outstanding Elementary Math Teacher for the Southwest District of Ohio. In 2001, I received recognition as the Outstanding Elementary Math Teacher for the State of Ohio.
I have co-chaired three OCTM State Math Conferences in Cincinnati, spoke at most of the OCTM conferences around the state and also at the National Council of Math Teachers Regional Conferences. I have served on the Executive Board of the OCTM in various capacities since 1992 and was just elected as the Elementary Vice President of the organization for the next three years.
I just love anything that has to do with math and children.
This is my 15th year at IHM as the Math Specialist and my 38th year of teaching. I've taught in the Covington Public Schools, St. Peter & Paul School in Norwood, Springer School for students with learning disabilities and St. Vincent Ferrer.
