Final exam

Keep up with what your child is doing in class, when homework is due and when tests are assigned.
The graded tests will be discussed in class in grades 4th to 8th but will not go home. If you would like to see the paper, please, make an appointment with Mrs. Morales. This will provide fair treatment to all students in the event that make ups have to be administered. Re-takes will no
t be allowed unless extreme circumstances justify them. The score of the re-take will be averaged with the original test.

If a student is absent, it is the student's responsibility to be prepared for the following class. This include to bring completed homework and to get  handouts before class. If a test has been given while the student is absent, a written excuse and request for a make up has to be turned in  the following Spanish class.

Remember, if you want to know how your child is doing in Spanish class, check progress book. Don't forget participation in class is very important and always encouraged. Tests, quizzes and homework points are posted there for grades 4th to 8th.

Please keep in mind that all students, except first graders, may take their folder and notes home as long as they bring it back for class.  Students will be evaluated in terms of completed work, performance and participation. It helps if  they review the material covered in class at least twice a week. Repetition is important when learning a language.

For grade 1:  No tests are given. They can have some homework.

For grades 2 - 3: Some homework might be given and for third grade at least one test per trimester may be given.

For grades 4 -6: There are usually two tests and homework assignments given a trimester. Since we meet only once a week, it will take several weeks before a quiz or a test is given. Most of the grades will start to appear towards the end of the trimester after the students have been able to learn the new vocabulary.

For grades 7 -8: There are usually two to three tests and /or quizzes each trimester as well as a grade for participation and homework assignments. Since we meet only once a week, it will take several weeks before a quiz or a test is given. Most of the grades will start to appear towards the end of the trimester after the students have been able to learn the new material. All students are expected to participate in class activities.

* This may vary according to progress.

My philosophy:   Spanish is taught once a week to all students grades K - 8th. I appreciate the importance of learning a second language.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the students and I am happy to be their teacher.  Any questions, please feel free to contact me during our working days through email.

                                Thanks,
                             Señora Morales
