Chapter 13: An Introduction to Algebra OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to...
Chapter 13 (solving equations - 1st objective) quiz will be on Monday, Dec. 8th.
Welcome to the 2008/09 school year! We will follow the Graded Course of Study for Mathematics put forth by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. To aid students in mastering these objectives, we will use our Math textbook, Internet resources, Math labs and learning stations. There will be an emphasis on cooperative, hands-on learning with student performance assessments as well as standard tests. Each Math class will begin with a 3-5 minute bell ringer activity and discussion/application of whatever students have done and how it relates to the unit of study/real world use. On Monday, Thursday and Friday students will have one period of Math and on Tuesday students will have a double period. I will not see sixth grade students on Wednesdays because fifth grade will have a double period on that day. This will allow both grades to have more time for Math lab and learning stations. We are very excited about this opportunity! Practice of Math concepts taught in class will be given regularly as well as spiral reviews. We will group students according to prior knowledge and teach, re-teach, and enrich as necessary. Please check your child's plan book, Tuesday folder and this website for homework and dates of tests. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to e-mail me at karene@ihomschool.org or leave me a voice mail at 388-5658. I look forward to working together as a team to help your child have a fun, successful school year!
Philosophy: Mrs. Easley believes that every student has value and worth and is an important part of our class. We will work together using differentiation to help each child learn to the best of their ability and have fun in the process. Did you know???
