IMPORTANT SUMMER INFORMATION

Do you have e-mail?  If we do not have your E-mail address, and you have not updated it on CNotify, you may miss out on summer communications from the school. Also, it is sometimes difficult for us to discern when an e-mail is from a parent and, to avoid a virus, we sometimes delete a message if the e-mail address does not look familiar.  It would help immensely if parents would identify themselves on the subject line of e-mails.

Thinking of moving or withdrawing your student?  We have 650 students enrolled for next fall and have waiting lists for most of our grade levels.  Please e-mail immediately when your decision is final, even in August!   DebbiH@ihomschool.org

(Most recent update will be listed first . . .)

Update:  June 16, 2008

What are the school office summer hours?
June  9-12 (occasionally closed for meetings, etc.), closed in July, August 9-12:00.

I have a question about sports programs.
Go to the parish website ( http://www.ihom.org    Athletics, Boosters Organization)

When will class lists be posted for 2008/09?
Check this website in August for the exact publication date.  We do not publish last names on the website for security reasons.

Is it a parent responsibility to call the transportation office if they move over the summer?
No.  E-mail DebbiH@ihomschool.org and I will handle that for you.  Contact me as soon as possible or you may not receive busing when school begins!

Will IHM send parents a letter in August before school begins?
No, however, parents of incoming first graders received a letter in  June regarding the 1/2 day schedule for the first few days of school.  It is the  responsibility of parents to check this website for summer information.  Parents who had children in our school for 2007/08 must also keep their CNotify information updated - we will send out information via that form of communication.  Need a refresher?  Click the link above!

Parents new to IHM for 2008/09 will have their information added by the school office in early August (or when they register in August).  They will receive their information concerning updating CNotify at the beginning of the school year.

Is there anything else on the school website that I should check?
The individual grade buttons are very interesting and some teachers have posted messages to their 20087/09  classes.  Our IT Administrator, Mrs. Cary, does a wonderful job with student-friendly links that are located on the main page.  Enjoy!

What if I have an important question not answered on this site?
E-mail your question to the above address.

How will I know when/where the bus will arrive in August?
We'll publish transportation information as soon as we receive it -- check this site often in August!

Do you still offer After School Care?
Yes.  Registration forms and information will available on this site in August and can be completed and sent to school before classes begin.  The forms can be printed from the top of this page.

Are you a new family to our school?
Save your magazine renewals for our PTO Magazine Drive!  They honor coupons, too!    The Drive is at the beginning of our school year and is our big fund raiser - easy to do!

Update:  June 16, 2008

Do you plan on volunteering at school this year?  Perhaps helping in the cafeteria or reading to the children?  Helping out with sports?  Chaperoning a field trip?   If so, you must be fingerprinted and also attend a Child Protection Class, according to the Archdiocesan Child Protection Decree.  For information on location and times please call our parish office at 388-4466 or watch the church bulletin.  Do not wait until August as it takes several weeks for this process to be completed!

Further details about our Dress Code
Regarding shoes:  The shoe requirement consists of solid white or solid black gym shoes.  It is okay if the shoe has a small amount of color.  For example a narrow stripe of color or a small logo.  As a rule of thumb, we are saying that 95% of the shoe needs to be black or white.  There are several stores at Eastgate that carry an acceptable shoe.  They are available at Footlocker, Penney’s, Payless, Finish Line, Kohls, Shoe Sensation, and Sears.  Most of these stores had both children and adult sizes.  The uniform company also has plain black or plain white shoes for approximately $40-50 for youth/adult sizes. High top shoes are permitted but socks must be visible over the top of the shoe and the shoe must follow the color requirements.   'Mary Jane' and 'Loafer' type shoes are permitted but the shoe must be all black and parents should remember that on gym day students must wear gym shoes that follow the color requirements.

ALL girls in grades 7 and 8 must wear either a skort OR pants/shorts - no skirts; all students wear the school uniform beginning with the first day of school.

Parents who have a new student in August will receive a letter this week.  If you misplace the letter you can click on the link below for another copy.
Parents with an incoming first grader need to remember if their student was coded   'A'    'B'   or   'C'  in the letter as that determines when the child will attend school for the first few days...

Group A will attend school the mornings of August 25 (Monday) and August 28 (Thursday)
Group B will attend school the mornings of August 26 (Tuesday) and August 28 (Thursday)
Group C will attend school the mornings of August 27 (Wednesday) and August 28 (Thursday)

Click here to see the letter sent this week
