There are over 75 photos of the students on the site this week!  All grade levels!  Photos of the inside of our kindergarten classrooms and building, our 8th and 1st grade buddies, pizza lunch time with grade 1 and kindergarten students with their teachers, all grade levels touring the Student Annex…photos will only be there until Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 14.

Band Notes from Mr. Simmons:


INSTRUMENTS IN NEED OF PLAYERS (GRADES 6, 7, & 8):  

We have several bass clarinets, baritone saxophones, baritone horns, and tubas that need players in the band program.  

These instruments are available to any student willing to learn them, regardless of whether or not they've been in band before.  If interested, please contact Mr. Simmons before Friday, September 17th.

If so please seriously consider completing the form in today’s packet – another copy is below.  It is to your advantage to complete and return the form.  The information will be added to the Forest Hills database to be used in the event of a bus accident, etc.  If you decide not to provide the information please sign the ‘Refusal to Consent’ section at the bottom of the form (make sure your child’s name is listed on the top of the form).  Send the form to OUR school office and we’ll make sure Forest Hills receives all forms.

School Prayer Team

 

Please join the School Prayer Team as we pray for our school, students, faculty and parents. We will be meeting after the School Mass on the first Thursday of each month to pray a rosary for the school. Meet in the Gathering space in church.  We are happy to teach you how to pray the rosary if you have never done it! Questions- contact Joy Harbert.

We have the most amazing staff in the world!  Let’s show them how much we appreciate all of their hard work.  Each month there will be a Potluck lunch for all of the staff at IHM, including the teachers, formation, parish, maintenance and front office.  These meals will be baked and served by a different grade each month.  The schedule and lunch themes are listed below.  A flyer with more details will be sent home 3 weeks before each lunch.  Thank you in advance for your assistance with these lunches.  The staff looks forward to this event every month!

    ORDER FORMS DUE IN SCHOOL OFFICE BY SEPT 17

Welcome back to school Crusaders.  We are proud to announce, we have new official IHM School Spiritwear!  We continue to work on some exciting things to help us show our school spirit!   All of the proceeds made from your purchases, from Kelly Oaks or Krista Devine,  our Spiritwear Coordinators, go right back to the Boosters to help support your child in the sports program at IHM. Please place your orders now and help show everyone the great spirit we have at IHM. Some items are new and are of different fits than in the past.  Don't hesitate to call us if there are any questions about a size.  The items are non returnable.

The Third Annual Winter Gala

“Silver White Winters”

Planning Meeting

The Winter Gala is a fundraiser, on January 22nd 2011 at Norlyn Manor in Batavia, which includes a dinner, silent and live auction. The money raised at this event goes towards the IHM school tuition assistance fund and Youth and Formation Ministry programs. We have generated over $50,000 for our IHM community!

If you are interested in being a part of the Winter Gala Committee, we encourage you to attend this meeting. There are many different levels of commitment so don’t let time be a factor. This is a great way to be get involved in the parish and meet parishioners while supporting the youth of the parish!

If you are unable to come to the meeting because of prior commitments but would like to be involved please fill out the slip below and we will contact you.

Shoes for Success     Shoes for Success will be collecting gently used or a new pair of shoes  for our twinning school and parish in Batahola.  Backpacks are needed too!  Donations will be accepted from through September 30th. There will be a drop off box in the school cafeteria (no flip flops please).   If you would like to volunteer please contact: Liz Rupp (943-7440/erupp@fuse.net) or Maria Goble (407-5978/togoble@fuse.net).  Volunteers meet after school for one hour to sort and assemble shoes.  It is an easy way for your student and you to volunteer together.

Child Protection – An Adult Responsibility

Fingerprinting will be available Monday, September 13th from  7:00 pm until 8:45 pm.  

Now is  the time to have your fingerprinting done so that you can volunteer. Fingerprinting is also available at the church office Tuesday and Wednesday 1:00-4:30, and Wednesday and Thursday mornings 9:30-11:30am. 

Child Protection Orientation classes: Monday, September 13th  7: 30pm and Wednesday, September 15th 4:00pm.  Please call the church office at 388-4466 to sign-up. Those who have not attended the class in the past five years are asked to retake the class.  

All volunteers working with children in the parish, including parent volunteers, must comply with the diocesan policies for child protection.

Booster News    Winter Sports sign ups are September 11th before and after 5:00 Mass as well as September 12th before and after 9:30 and 11:30 Masses.  Boys Basketball Commissioner – Ken Jenkins and Girls Volleyball  Commissioner – Michelle Dietz. Sign up area is by the inside concession stand. Please bring all completed forms and fees.  Forms can be found at http://www.ihom.org
