My name is Denise Daggett, and I have been teaching school for 16 years. This is my sixth year at Immaculate Heart of Mary School. I have an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northern Kentucky University, and a Master of Science degree from Walden University.
Although Elementary Education is a second career for me, developing children intellectually as well as spiritually and socially has always been a passion of mine. From babysitting in my early teen years, to interacting with my nieces and nephews and then staying home to raise my own two children, I knew I was being called to be an educator. As soon as I was presented with the opportunity to return to school to become a certified teacher, I happily accepted! It is my pleasure to be sharing this passion with the students at IHM!
My favorite aspect of teaching elementary children is witnessing their intellectual ability and personal confidence grow throughout a school year. Their smiles and expressions of pride as a result are priceless!
Almost daily in an elementary classroom, a student will make an innocent comment that makes me laugh out loud! The most recent was after a comment I made about turning another year older. Without hesitation, one of my students said, “You’re not old, Mrs. Daggett. You’re just tall!”
I have been married for 29 years to my husband, John. John is self-employed and is also a Junior Varsity Basketball Coach at Lakota West High School. My daughter, Taylor, is a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Tri-State Rehabilitation Center here in Cincinnati. She married the love of her life, Aaron Wendel, in September of this year. Aaron is also a Doctor of Physical Therapy here in Cincinnati. My son, Jacob, is a 2nd and 3rd grade Language Arts teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am truly blessed!
