I have been a teacher for 33 years and I have had the joy of being at IHM School for 17 years.
I went to the University of Dayton and received my degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I also went to UC and received a reading specialist certification.
My grandmother was a teacher for over 50 years and I always admired her. I also love helping children learn about how special they are in God's eyes.
My favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is being able to help a child find the joy of reading. They grow so much in kindergarten and I am blessed to be part of their foundation. My family's favorite part of me being a teacher would be the entertaining stories I tell at dinner every night!
Everyday is a new experience in kindergarten! One of my favorite stories would be when I was teaching about the stations of the cross with the Easter Egg story. Each egg had a new symbol from the passion. The children were paying very close attention and when I opened the egg that contained the crown of thorns a little one stood up and yelled, "Run Jesus, Run!" I always loved that because it shows the true love we have for Jesus.
Our family has been members of IHM for over 30 years and all 4 of our children attended IHM school . Annie is a kindergarten teacher at Ascension School in Dayton. We have so much fun sharing stories and ideas! Adam works downtown as an auditor for Fifth Third Bank, Matthew is a mechanical engineering at L3 Communications and my daughter Emily will be joining our IHM school staff with the intervention team.
