Summer of 2025

I hope everyone has a relaxing, safe, and fun summer.  I do not assign any work over the summer, but you can still learn history.  Read some historic fiction or non-fiction.  There is a lot of history in Cincinnati and the surrounding area that we will be covering in 8th grade.  For those who are travelling, keep a daily record of your travels.  Include any historic stops along the way to wherever you are headed.  When you are at your destination explore the history of the area. Who knows what you might uncover.  
 
As for me I am planning a few day trips around Cincinnati. In July I will be heading to Gettysburg, PA to learn more about the Civil War.  I will again have an opportunity to go into the archives at the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, PA.  I am hoping to get into the Lancaster County Archives and a behind the scenes tour at the Seminary Ridge Museum.  I will also be attending a Gilder-Lehrman Teacher Symposium being held at Gettysburg College.  I will be spending time there learning about slavery in North America.

Summer of 2024

I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer break.  If you are traveling anywhere visit a historical place - such as a museum, a historical site, or a national park.  There are also many places to visit in and around Cincinnati.  

Summer of 2023

I hope everyone has wonderful and safe summer.  I do not assign summer work, but here is a list of some things you can do to learn history:
 
1. Read historical fiction or nonfiction books. 
2. When traveling this summer check out the history of the area you are visiting.  Look at the signs along the road that show historical spots.  If you can stop and take a look. 
3.  Visit local museums or historical sites in and around Cincinnati.  2 Presidents of the United States spent time in an around our area. One was born to the east of Anderson Township, and one is buried west of Anderson Township.
4. If you are driving on vacation, look at a map or MapQuest to plan your route.  It helps reinforce map skills. 
 
I will be attending a Teacher Institute in Baltimore, Maryland this summer and will be learning more about the American Revolution, War of 1812, and the American Civil War.  Part of the institute is touring historical sites.  We will be visiting Fort McHenry and the B&O Railroad Museum.  I will be visiting other historical sites on my drive to and from Balitmore.

School Year 2022-23

I am looking forward to my 3rd year teaching career at IHM as an 8th grade homeroom teacher.  Feel free to email me with any questions.  Day to day homework assignments will be posted on Option C.  I will use this page for communication on long range projects and tests.
