IHM School Newsletter

September 19, 2018

Dear IHM Crusaders,

As we get into the full swing of our school and fall schedules, our days can get filled quickly. Naturally, we fill our time doing things we enjoy and spending time with those we love. The more time we spend with our family and friends or participating in various activities, the more familiar they become.  This is typically true in most aspects of our lives.

Spending time with God in prayer gives us the opportunity to know Him better and hear what He is calling us to do. It is so important that we schedule time for prayer to develop our personal relationship with God. I challenge you to make this a part of your daily routine.

I hope you are enjoying these beautiful days.

Mrs. Devine

Fall Series for Growing in Faith

Join us for our "Fall Series for Growing in Faith!" To make it easier for your busy schedule, we will offer dinner at 6pm in the cafeteria. After dinner, around 6:45pm, we will move to Heritage Hall for our Faith Formation Event. The cost for each evening is a donation to cover the cost of food. The time will run from 6pm-8pm.

  1. Thursday, October 11th- Growing in Faith Through Prayer- After dinner, Donna Wenstrup will guide you in a prayer experience based on Lectio Divina that will end by 8pm. This is a wonderful way to hear God's still small voice talking to you in your life circumstances right now! When shared together as a family, it allows you to hear how your children are responding to God's love! This is a very bonding and meaningful experience, and after this evening, you will have a template for encountering Christ through Lectio prayer that can be used for any scripture passage!
  2. Wednesday, October 24th- Growing in Faith: Effective Decision Making Through Discernment- After dinner, Deacon Mike Cassani will lead teens and adults in a discussion on discernment – the only truly effective process to make significant, life-impacting decisions.  Children ages 6-12 will meet with Nicolette Chmiel in a classroom, so they can also learn how to make good choices. Our children are faced with many decisions as they grow up: What high school to attend? What major to focus on in college? Should I marry this person? Etc. This evening will give you an understanding of the process to make these life decisions wisely.
  3. Tuesday, November 27th- Growing in Faith During Advent- Grab dinner and relax with a Family Movie Night watching The Star! This will get us in the mood for Advent, and you may take home Advent Booklets for children. If you need an Advent Wreath, those will be available for sale as well, for $10. Please indicate on registration that you would like one, so we know how many to order.

To register for one or more of these evenings, please go to

For children age 1 and walking up to age 5, we will offer babysitting. Please register a few days ahead of time by going to
