Dear Crusader Families,

 

I have a few important announcements regarding our campus tomorrow.

 

Morning arrival will follow daily procedures. Limited parking will be available for morning Mass.

However, the front parking lot will need to be cleared of ALL vehicles by 9:20am and WILL NOT be available for parking the rest of the day.

 

I understand that we will have many visitors for the Valentine’s parties tomorrow.

We have made arrangements for the back parking lot to be open throughout the day. Certain areas in the back parking lot behind the gym will be open for visitor parking tomorrow.  However, the back parking lot will need to be cleared of ALL vehicles by 2:40pm for bus arrival. 

 

Afternoon dismissal for car riders will not begin until 3:15pm.  If you plan to pick up your child at dismissal, please utilize the back parking lot and walk into the school via the gym doors.  The back parking lot will not be open for cars until 3:10pm due to bus dismissal.

 

There is a slight chance the front parking lot will be available for dismissal at 3:05pm. I will send out a communication confirming availability at 2:15pm tomorrow via e-mail and text. Please check your messages at this time.

8th Grade Students

We are proud of all our graduating students and want to acknowledge every student’s academic achievement.  If your student received a scholarship or admission award from a high school, please share this information with us. We include this information in the graduation ceremony speech and publish it in the bulletin, Heartbeat and various local media.  Individual dollar amounts are held confidential and are never mentioned or published but a grand total for the class is published.  Please forward your scholarship information to Mrs. Day at the School Office.

IHM Night at the Cincinnati Cyclones!

Join our IHM Families at IHM Night at the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday, March 13th! Our IHM Children’s Choir will sing the National Anthem! Tickets are $12 each with $2 from each ticket sold going back to IHM School! IHM Preschool

If you are a current Day School Family and need Preschool Registration information for a new sibling please contact the School Office – we are happy to send a packet home to you with your student!

 

 

IHM Spring Sports Registration

On-line registration for all IHM Boosters Spring 2019 Sports offerings will be open TODAY, January 16 at www.ihomboosters.org for Boys & Girls Track and Boys Volleyball.  Register before 11:30pm on the deadline date listed for each sport.

The Booster program will be collecting many of the necessary waivers and paperwork online.  Please take time to review each item during the registration process for the Spring Sports Season.

EVENTS & NEWS

 

PTO Roles and Volunteer Opportunities - We have some great opportunities for you to be involved in your child’s school!  And just so you know… when you decide to become involved, you are not alone!  We help each other, we work together, we have resources, and we have fun!  The PTO has various types of roles and needs various skillsets.  Some are bigger time commitments, and some are lesser time commitments.  We would love to talk about your interests and what might be a good fit for you. A Response Card is being sent home to you to make it easy for you to share your interests.  Please send it back and let us know! 

We are in search of volunteers:  

  • to fill Board and Chair roles that will be opening next school year,
  • who want to learn more about a role and potentially shadow next year for the following year, and
  • who don’t want a role, but want to volunteer to help at the events

 

REGISTRATION IS OPEN:  FAMILY OBSTACLE COURSE is Saturday 4/13/19.  Fun for kids (5 and over) and adults of all fitness levels.  You will not want to miss this!  Start times at 9:00 am, 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. First come first served. Register early to get your preferred time.  Around 20 obstacles including a brand-new Ninja Warrior Scaffolding unit. Race shirt for all participants.  Practice tips and information coming soon PREFERRED REGISTERATION: ONLINE - Go to myschoolanywhere.com or the app (All day school families already have an account.  If you need your login information, contact ihmpto@gmail.comor, return the FOC Registration Flyer with check via backpack mail to PTO.

Mardi Gras Jr. High Dance - Friday, March 1 from 8-10:30pm in the IHM cafeteria. DJ • Dancing • Pizza • Snacks.  Cost is $7.  RSVP by February 22 through the MSA app or www.myschoolanywhere.com to pay with PayPal/Credit Card (preferred). (All families have an MSA account, please do not create a new one. If you do not know your login, please contact ihmpto@gmail.com.) Family Art Night for grades K-6 is coming up on Wednesday March 27th from 6-8pm! Please join us for hands-on art activities that are fun for the family. RSVP by registering on MSA and selecting Sign Ups; or send email to Heather Overbeck at hoverbeck@cinci.rr.com or by completing the Family Art Night Form and return to school.  You must RSVP by 3/6 in order to receive a T-shirt. 

 

8 x 10 Class Portraits Available!   The IHM Winter Gala has partnered with the PTO with a unique opportunity to buy grade level portraits that were debuted at the Gala! If you were not able to attend the Gala or attended and missed this item, you can buy it now and all proceeds go to the Gala! Order now for $10 each and they will be delivered to you. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

 

Jr. High Mardi Gras Dance - Volunteers are needed to help with the Jr. High Mardi Gras Dance on 3/1.  1 additional volunteer is needed to help with set up, 3 volunteers are needed to help with registration during the dance, 2 volunteers are needed to assist with food, 3 are needed to help in the dance area and 4 volunteers are needed to close the event!  Please consider helping out with this fun event!  Please contact Jamie McCaughey at jamiemccaughey@hotmail.com or click on the following link to volunteer: Sign Up Genius - Jr. High

Christ Communities - 15 volunteers are still needed to lead small groups in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Christ Community groups on February 19th from 1- 2:50 pm.  So far we haven’t had anyone volunteer.  Please consider volunteering!  The 6th, 7th and 8th grade has been having a wonderful youth rally during Christ Communities called “The Underground.”  We have four missionary guests from Damascus Catholic mission campus.  During the rallies on February 19th, and the next one scheduled for April 16th, the students will be breaking into small groups to further discuss the topic.  If you are available to volunteer for either of the 2 sessions, please click on the following link to volunteer:

From the Mountains to the Sea Showcase Luncheon

Come join us for the From the Mountains to the Sea Showcase Luncheon benefiting IHM’s twinning communities, Our Lady of the Mountains in Stanton KY and The Cultural Center of Batahola in Nicaragua.  Ticket prices are $20 per person to enjoy a delicious lunch featuring cuisine from both communities.  Luncheon guests will also have the opportunity to browse artwork and crafts from both regions. 

 

The luncheon will be held at 12 noon on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd. This year’s Raffle will include one week’s stay at a rustic cabin in Frenchburg, KY. One raffle ticket is $25 or 5 for $100. For reservations, contact Maggie Rosch at rosch@gmail.com or 513 232 4051.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Hosting at Comboni

Sat Feb 16, 2019 – Sun Feb 24, 2019

The Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) is a group of churches, who take turns hosting homeless families who are part of the network. Families sleep and eat breakfast and dinner at the host churches for a period of one week before moving on to another host congregation. During the day, children go to school. Adults go to work or search for work or housing with the assistance of IHN staff. Each host congregation is responsible for providing meals, evening activities, and sleeping accommodations for the guests. All of this work is done by volunteers from the host parishes. IHM will be participating in hosting families Feb 16-24 at Comboni, 1318 Nagel Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45255. Head over to the Fatima Room after all weekend masses or to the church office during regular business hours to purchase these gift cards.  

 

 

Small Faith Sharing Groups

There are 4 new Small Faith Sharing Groups being offered during Lent.

  1. Starting Tuesday, February 5th from 7:30pm-9:45pm- Cultivating Nonviolence: Harvesting Peace: A Faith Journey. This JustFaith series contains 8 sessions, concluding March 26th. It will be held in West Heritage and facilitated by Debbie and Jerry Metz and Jack Newfield. Please contact them at newfield6@fuse.net or  metz@zoomtown.com to register or for any questions.
  2. Starting Wednesday, March 6 at 10:45am-11:30am -A Consecration to Divine Mercy meets for 6 sessions concluding April 10. This group will meet in the Blessed Mother Room in the Welcome Center and will be facilitated by Joann Armstrong at jmarmstrong2@outlook.com. This series is based on 33 Days to Merciful Love and will prepare us for celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday.
  3. Starting Wednesday, March 6 from 7:30pm-9pm, Rudy and Christine Noble will facilitate a book discussion on the book given away at Christmas, Edward Sri’s Into His Likeness in the Blessed Mother Room in the Welcome Center. Please contact noble@gmail.com for any questions.
  4. Starting Thursday, March 7 from 12:30pm-2pm, Debbie Tepe will facilitate No Greater Love: A Biblical Walk Through Christ’s Passion. This 6 session program focuses on Jesus' passion, the final 18 hours on Earth before His death on the cross. This will be held in the St. Matthew Room. Babysitting is available.
