IHM SCHOOL NEWSLETTER
November 29, 2023
Dear Crusader Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and restful Thanksgiving break! As we begin the season of advent, we will have many celebrations and events to look forward to in celebration of the birth of Jesus.
This year, on December 7, we will host an IHM Band Concert for 6 and 7th grade at 5:30 pm and a Musical Showcase for 5th and 8th grade which will begin at 7pm in the Gym. We will also continue the wonderful IHM tradition of our Nativity Play. Our evening performance will be held on December 14 at 6pm. We invite all to attend this special event!
We are also excited to announce that this year we will continue the tradition of hosting Grand-Guest Day! Grand-guest Day will be held on Tuesday, December 19 from 8:15am-11:30am. If your child does not have a grandparent in town, please feel free to invite a Special Friend to join them on that day.
There will be a Nativity Play performance at 9am on Tuesday, December 19. Additionally, Grandparents and special guests are invited to IHM during this day to visit classrooms and see all the wonderful things that our Crusaders are doing!
In order to successfully plan for the day, we are asking you to register. Each family must complete the REGISTRATION FORM, for the office to obtain dismissal information and guest registration information.
Information and agenda for the day can be FOUND HERE.
December 19 will be a half day for all students. All students will be dismissed at 11:30. There will be no bus transportation home that day, students will need to have their own transportation.
We are again asking families to participate in sending a Christmas card to an elderly person in our IHM community. This is a wonderful way to “Thank” a fellow parishioner for supporting our school while sending him/her a Christmas blessing. These cards truly mean so much to those who receive them. If you would like to participate, please fill out this FORM
We will send you the name and address of someone in our community. Many times, those who receive these cards are at a point in their lives that they don’t get many Christmas cards. So, cards from our students and their families mean so much to them. Please help if you are able.
Finally, as we await the birth of the ultimate Christmas gift, it is a perfect time to prepare our hearts for Jesus. Friday, all students will receive an Advent resource to help guide them throughout this Advent season. Please ask your child to share this with you and talk about how you can use this together.
Many Blessings,
Ms. Durstock

PARISH INFORMATION
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Beginning Sunday, November 5th at the 9:30am Mass, children, ages 4 to 8, are invited to participate in a Children’s Liturgy of the Word. At the beginning of the Liturgy of the Word during Mass, children will be invited to process out to the choir room with Lindsey Schaaf and Tricia Cobb to listen to Scripture and respond to questions about what happens in the Sunday Readings. Understanding the Gospel reading at their level will help children deepen and explore their relationship with God. They will learn simple Mass responses for the Creed and Intercessory Prayer. Then they will rejoin their families in time to begin the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We will offer the Children’s Liturgy of the Word the first Sunday of the month, November through April at the 9:30am Mass. For more information or to help as an adult, please contact the Formation Office 513-388-4189.
