Schedule
I am at IHM five days a week providing math support and intervention in grades 3-6. Math Support and intervention will usually take place in the classroom unless there is a need to take the students to the modular. Sometimes, I will take students out for tests and some reinforcement of a concept.
Math Enrichment participation is different this year as a new process based on data from the IOWA and beginning of the year assessments is used to determine the placement of students in Math Enrichment and all of the ACE groups. Some of the past math enrichment students were identified to participate in some other programs at this time. We will be reevaluating placements at the end of the trimester which might indicate the need to make some changes in the ACE groups.
Providing this service will primarily take place during ACE times for the 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders which limits attendance to only 10 to 11 students but we will meet three times a week and the students will not miss math classes. 7th & 8th grade enrichment will both take place during ACE as Mr. Geers and I will be working together to provide this service. Unfortunately, he is only available during the 7th & 8th grade ACE times
The 5th grade Math Enrichment will happen after School on Mondays and the students who will be invited will be receiving a letter about this arrangement. Since 5th & 6th grades have ACE at the same time I can only take one grade and we decided that would be 5th grade this year. Over the most recent years, I have had Math Enrichment groups after school for grades 6,7, and 8 since I couldn't always take the students from math class. So it is the 5th grade's turn to be after class this year.
Since I am working in nine periods with the 3rd grade math as a co-teacher this year , I hope to be able to see my students from last year's 2nd grade enrichment groups within those class times. I am working with the teachers to make this happen.
I never take 2nd graders until after January and depending on how my schedule goes, we will make such a decision after the Christmas Break.
