Today, ASCD posted an article about how educators can revamp their approach to teaching so they don't lose boys' interest...it really is a phenomenon! There is data out there about how boys are falling behind. Ask you son's teachers how many of these strategies they are employing to keep him engaged and try to do similar things at home.

 

Here are opportunities for ExCEL kids to delve into some other learning topics outside of school.

 

1. Covington Latin School in Kentucky offers a fall session of classes called Explore More where kids can explore things like guitar, chess, roller coaster physics, and more.

2. The Super Saturday program (classes are now being held at Walnut Hills High School instead of UC's Applied Science campus) offers courses for gifted learners in topics such as cooking, junk art, theater, podcasting, LEGO Mindstorms, etc.
