My Bio

Meet Ms. DeLaney!

My name is Megan DeLaney, and I am from Toledo, Ohio. This is my 18th year of teaching, and my 11th year at IHM. Growing up, I was inspired to be a teacher through helping my mom in her classroom, as well as working with children through volunteer programs. I attended Xavier University, where I received my B.S. in Early Childhood Education.

The beginning of my teaching career was spent in the Archdiocese of Boston, where I was privileged to participate in a teaching service program as a member of the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps (UCTC) of Boston College. While in UCTC, I started the Pre-K program in an inner-city Catholic school in Boston, and I earned my Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College. My time in UCTC ignited a passion within me to work in Catholic schools.

I feel blessed to be here at IHM, where the students are inspiring, and families are truly caring! My favorite thing about teaching is helping the students I teach to reach goals that allow them to feel proud of themselves.  Each student comes to 1st grade at the beginning of the year with so much potential to learn and grow. I feel privileged to not only help make that learning come alive, but to get to know the students along their path of growing in first grade.

Outside of school, I enjoy baking, running, and spending time with my family and dog. I am a 14-time marathon runner, and I have been privileged to run the Boston Marathon twice including this past April! I have found great joy in achieving goals through training and racing!

I am excited for the year ahead with your children!

Sincerely,

Ms. DeLaney
